So 3 weeks of being 29 have passed and a lot has been happening. All good things which has been promising.
Firstly, I quit a job I hated. It was affecting my life in a number of ways (none of which were getting me to where I want to be) and I simply said no more. Already my mood and outlook has improved and I've begun actively seeking out opportunities for self improvement. This includes registering for a number of online short courses that range in content from children's story book writing, to photography essentials, to landscape design. All things I've been intrigued and interested in, but never actually sought to improve my knowledge or skills in.
Additionally, I also applied for a job in a company that is outside teaching. This may not seem like a major deal but I believe is a turning point in the direction I'm moving in. Teaching is certainly a noble profession, but not necessarily the one for me. Now the job application eventuated to nothing, but what it did require me to do is change my resume to analyse what my skills are and how they could be effective within another field. This was a huge confidence boost and for the first time I felt competent and enjoyed the process of writing a CV without needing the assistance of anyone else. Now the task is to keep searching and looking for companies and occupations that I believe I'd be a good fit for.
Finally (and this is a big one), I got glasses. Proper prescription grown up glasses. And I couldn't be happier. I really had no idea how weak my eyesight really was and now reading books and looking at tablets is so much easier. I believe it's a major stepping stone in the year of 29. However, there are some drawbacks- I'm compiling a list and plan on sharing it soon.
